Exterior house painting in Castleknock

This exterior repaint in the Blanchardstown / Castleknock area needed more than a fresh coat.

The old finish on parts of the rear and side walls had broken down badly, so the job had to start with the surface, not the paint.

The walls were power washed where needed to remove loose material, dirt and old failing coating. Once that was cleared back, the surface could be judged properly and sealed where required before repainting began.

That part mattered here.

On a house like this, there is no point painting over weak or unstable areas and hoping for the best. If the wall is not right underneath, the finish above it will only hold for so long.

Once prepared and sealed properly, the house could be repainted cleanly and brought back into line as a whole. The lighter walls, darker base and darker gates gave it a sharper, more settled look without forcing it.

From the outside, the finished job looks simple.

Usually, the work that makes it hold up is the part done earlier.

If the outside of your house is starting to look patchy, tired or unstable, the first thing worth checking is the wall condition itself. That usually tells you more than the colour ever will.
